Culture experienced a decline. Only the church was able to maintain part of the classical culture. Saint Isidore of Seville in the 7th century wrote Etymologies which was a compillation of the knowledge in his time.
ART
Visigothic art is best known for its small churches with horseshoes arches. The most important churches were San Pedro de la Nave in Zamora and San Juan de Baños in Palencia.
Visigoths also produced interesting metalwork using precios metals and gems. Representative metalworks by the Visigoths were fibulae , brooches , belt bucklets and votive crowns.
